Why would you want audit a park?
It's quite simple really. Council staff
determine what the grade of each park or reserve should be
according to profile, usage, etc. Each grade has
technical specifications built into it related to the
max/min height of the grass, the amount of rubbish, etc, at
any given time. Then it is up to the contractors who
mow it and pick up the rubbish, etc, to keep the park to the
specification. What we do is audit the parks to see if
the specifications are being met. Since we use
auditors with parks, environmental and recreational
experience we also add value by reporting on other issues
such as trees that need pruning and make suggestions where a
footpath or planting would be appropriate.

How do you audit a park/measure the park?
Most of the
specifications on a park (or reserve, wharf, playground,
etc) apply all the time so it doesn't matter when the audits
are done (although conducting them in daylight helps!).
Once the randomised sample of the sites (parks, reserves,
etc) to be audited is complete, then we set off to the site
and literally count the rubbish - "x" pieces per "y" square
metres, and measure the grass using a
rising disc.

How do you report the passes/fails?
Every specification
in a park, reserve, wharf, playground, etc, has pass and
fail criteria associated with it. Therefore each one
that fails this has a digital photograph taken of the
failure. This is included in the
database
driven report to the council and the contractor each month.

What is an Intranet?
It is just like having the Internet on your
pc at work, except that the outside world can't see what
you've got on it. This means your company has
effectively got a mini internet within it's own environment.
This [Your Company Name] Web means it can be tailored to
look just how your company wants it to look and to contain
information that only applies to people at work.

Why would
we want an Intranet anyway?
In
most companies today, staff have easy access to a computer
and can therefore find out information from the Intranet at
the click of mouse.

What
benefit is there in creating a company wide Intranet?
Many
companies spent hours updating information contained in
manuals that actually don't get used very often. The
paperwork to correct a spelling mistake can be just as long
as that required to create a new form/document etc. An
Intranet can be used to update information that means the
change is actioned instantly. Email notification can
be sent out to just those effected or globally across the
company - you set the rules to best benefit and effect.
Many
of our clients utilise a Forms page within their Intranet.
From there anyone can download the latest expenses form,
leave request, etc. Those old photocopied forms
disappearing off the sides of the page soon become a thing
of the past - so does keeping spares handy as they are
available at the click of a mouse.

How do
I update the pages though?
Well
it's up to you really, you can either change them yourself
or ask us to update them for you. In many cases it
depends on the skill set within your IT people.

What is ISO 9000?

What does
ISO actually stand for?
Because "International Organization for Standardization"
would have different abbreviations in different languages ("IOS"
in English, "OIN" in French for Organisation Internationale
de Normalisation), it was decided at the outset to use a
word derived from the Greek isos, meaning "equal".
Therefore, whatever the country, whatever the language, the
short form of the organization's name is always ISO.
So it isn't a three letter acronym for the International
Standards Organization.

What is
ISO
ISO
is a network made up from 157 members (mainly from the national standards institutes of
each country) and on the basis of one member per country, with a
Central Secretariat in Geneva, Switzerland, that coordinates
the system. ISO, officially began operations on 23
February 1947 and as of April 2008 had issued 16,500
international standards. ISO essentially enables a
consensus to be reached on solutions that meet both
the requirements of business and the broader needs
of society.

In
what ways can ISO 9001 certification add value to my
business?
 | Be more efficient
and profitable |
 | Produce products
and services that consistently meet customer requirements
|
 | Achieve customer
satisfaction |
 | Increase market
share |
 | Maintain market
share |
 | Improve
communications and morale in the organization |
 | Reduce costs and
liabilities |
 | Increase confidence
in the production system |

What resources will
my organisation need to invest?
This depends on the procedures and systems
you already have in place. These must be both recorded
and performed correctly.
AardNet Limited has experienced
senior
auditors on staff, who are able to advise you of likely
resource commitments.

What if
my company achieves an ACC discount and/or ISO9001
certification and then we find we can't spare the time to
manage it?
Some
people would say that your system wasn't working very well
then! However, the reality is that we all get busy
periods, our industry goes through change, people leave,
successful products/services create more work/income, etc,
etc. This is where you contact us and say
HELP!
We
have been helping clients to maintain their management
systems for some time. In one case (still going strong
four years later) we look after the management review
process, system incident reporting, hazard id, building
warrant of fitness, health and safety training, etc, etc,
whilst they manufacture, sell and distribute their products.
The relationship is built around a standard monthly amount
of time at their premises and/or working on their system.
Evidence that it continues to be effective is their growing
bottom line and the certification to ISO9001:2000 complete
with the Secondary level of WSMP discount.

Our
systems don't need to be changed that often but can you help
me keep on top of things?
Most of our clients prefer to look after
their day to day business activities themselves and
supplement this by using us to conduct internal audits for
them on a regular basis, each quarter for example. We
quite often update their Intranet, review hazard sheets, run
safety training sessions, etc, at the same time.
Basically we can tailor our support to meet your needs.
